The Universe is mysterious and infinite, with large areas called “space.” Yet, I believe we, as human beings, are spiritual beings or “living souls”, having a physical experience. Many different cultures have some understanding of the control of an Omnipresent God, by whatever name or gender. Also, various cultures, have had prophets or spiritually sensitive people, who revealed codes of practice for the less spiritually sensitive, perhaps less mature; which would allow us to live in harmony with one another and with all of nature on Earth. Actually, “space” is not empty. It is full of connective information, Quantum Physics points to our interconnection with the All.
My mind has wrestled with the idea that a hive of honey-bees “knows” that it is going to be a hot day. So, pollen and nectar carriers, switch to carrying water, whilst wax builders revert to fanning for water-cooling. It starts at Sunrise, before it starts getting hot. Do we think God has forgotten us? Bad things happen but these are not “God’s will.” Well, God can’t go against his (her) own laws. I do not believe that a Loving God could create a Hell, to send some of us there when we die. Hell is man-made, on “the road paved with ‘good’ intentions!” Also, I agree with the Buddha that mind is a perceptive sense along with sight, smell, taste, etc. It is a source of information but not the arbiter of right and wrong. We have to look to the heart for that guidance.
Let’s not get hung up on which system is better than another. I believe that all prophets have taught principles or life skills of Love, Charity, and Forgiveness. They all knew that these principles were necessary for Peace on Earth, especially with some people who were immature, infirm, and misguided by some who proffered the idea that we all have “a right to our opinion.” An opinion is developed by the mind, which gets trained in childhood. Yet, new-born babies are born with several hidden agendas for their development. Also, I would say that what is attractive, especially with babies, is the heart and the heart is constantly radiating its character and characteristics, often glimpsed with and in the eyes.
The Beatles sang: “Imagine” & “All we need is LOVE.” So, the heart contains the spiritual aspects of a human being. It is a real conscience about right and wrong, as opposed to the mind’s learned conscience of Freud’s “super-ego.” The mind is quick to judge a person or situation by “eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (otherwise known as the forbidden fruit). Many are hypnotized by opinions, which teach us to eat of this fruit. Yet, the heart resonates with something that is admirable about another person, as a source of the admiration, whether it is Courage or Honesty. Saul (who became Paul on the road to Damascus), is admired to this day by many. In Philippians 4:8, he wrote: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true… honest… just… pure… lovely… of good report; If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Well, so much for opinions and the forbidden fruit! I have great admiration of the wisdom of the East and of North American “First Nations.” Yet, I am also aware that some more opinionated people found forceful, even violent ways to influence large numbers to support their zeal, around various opinions. Wars have been fought “with God on our side,” with both sides believing they were “defending” against zealots and fanatics. Also, Science has taken centuries to embrace, and give credence to spiritual matters. “The New Science” can stop the sceptics’ disbelief with action at a distance, the power of prayer, and vibrational healing, etc.; all matters of the heart! Thus, my faith in God includes my faith in the hearts of people and loving care to help others find their own answers. Galileo said: “No one can teach others anything, but we can help them discover it in themselves!”
